Mission Summary
Red Team (M.A.V. Terrorist Guards)
Overview:
The Red Team (M.A.V. terrorist guards) will exhibit predictable, repeatable behavior. The red team will consist of two armed individuals located in a vehicle located outside the bank building. The vehicle will be driven by one member of the red team while the other individual searches for one of three signs of activity that indicate that a hostage rescue attempt is to be attempted (EOD robots, commandos, and low flying MAVs). The vehicle will be driven on a circular route around the perimeter of the bank building and will stop periodically. The red team will have essentially a 360 degree field of view (FOV) from their positions in the vehicle, but their FOV will be blocked periodically by buildings, trees and other features as they circle the bank. When a red team member spots one of the three signs of activity he will notify the judge that is riding in their vehicle to allow the judge to make a determination. In most cases when a sign of activity is detected, the guard vehicle will stop for a short time to assess the situation and determine the impact on the mission. High flying (above 100 ft AGL) observation MAVs will not cause the vehicle to stop although they may be spotted by the red team. Once the situation is assessed / resolved, the demonstration team will be notified and the red team will resume the previous pattern of behavior. Red team members will wear a distinctive uniform and should be in the vehicle or next to the vehicle at all times. In the case where the commandos are detected by the red team, the commando rescue mission portion of the challenge will be aborted. Although reinforcements were mentioned in the official rules, no additional red team members will be present during the 40 minute demonstration.
